LIONEL
JADOT
Lionel Jadot Born in Brussels in 1969, Lionel Jadot is an interior designer, artist, designer, filmmaker, adventurer. But preferably all at the same time. He is firing on all cylinders. “I don't throw anything away, I pick up. I don't have a green thumb, I try cuttings, unnatural marriages. I never forget a line. »He invites you into subtle, quirky worlds bordering on reality. Its matter is dilated time. The traveler spirit seeks a protective balance in a hostile world. This is his constant question: what becomes of the place where we live? For Lionel Jadot, everything is an object, everything is history. He draws on other places, other times, and looks for what binds them. He sews, seams, re-sews, combines materials, combines eras. He encases wood in metal, minerals in plants, old in new. “I take care of the connection between two materials”. At home, there is play, as in a piece of machinery. From one kingdom to another, it causes organic, viral, energy-generating growths. Linking past and future, he never forgets a line. “I accumulate them. »He invites people into subtle, quirky worlds, bordering on reality. Are we in 1930 or in 2030? Both, no doubt. Its matter is dilated time. The eye goes hand in hand with the ear. "When I walk into a place, I listen to the good (or bad) it does to me. Ineffable sensation. "He recreates mutant buildings. The traveler spirit, he flirts with retro-futurism. it is aimed at urban travelers who love speed, fluidity and hospitality. He conceives of interiors as a game of objects: a motorcycle cut in concrete becomes a counter. He finds echoes of gothic comics, Moebius, Jodorowski, Bilal, sets of the Hermetic Garage and Blade Runner, protective balance in a hostile world. “I don't throw anything away, I fix everything. I collect pieces of wood. I don't have a green thumb, I try cuttings, unnatural marriages. A trunk wrapped in copper matrix becomes a bench ". He hijacks "musician's desk lamps, turned brass trees, and an orchestra lights up the skeleton of a 1982 BMW RT100, with camel saddle." The "caliber" chair takes up the classic style. "I break the mold and I get a new assembly": vintage chairs, original patterns, van seat and 18th century tapestry cushions. Its Bamboo Edge lamp goes around the world: early 20th century cast iron paver groomer, belt buckle from Mali, bent bamboo, Tibetan bronze singing bowl, marble block. The AutoWall screen is a totem of car parts. In short, Lionel Jadot loves the double game. Architect, the place inspires him a story. A filmmaker, he invents a story in a place that does not (yet) exist. This is his constant question: what becomes of the place where we live?
